Build experience from day one

Practical experience is at the heart of our pharmacy degrees. From your first year, you complete a placement programme in a community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy or primary care, working alongside experienced professionals.

You’ll also complete 20 hours of volunteering with local organisations, starting with a charity showcase in your first few weeks.

We also support the British Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (BPSA) - we have hosted their annual conference and we help students attend their national events.

Learn from experts shaping the future of pharmacy

At UEA, you’ll be taught by leading researchers working on everything from drug discovery to cancer treatments. Their work influences healthcare at the highest levels and there are opportunities for students to get involved too.

In your final year, you’ll conduct a research project, working on current challenges in pharmaceutical science, chemistry or pharmacology. You’ll also complete a quality improvement project with one of our work based partners.

Train in industry-standard facilities

You’ll develop practical skills in specialist training spaces designed to replicate real pharmacy environments.

Our facilities include:

Mock pharmacy and GP practice rooms
Simulation suites
World-class laboratories

These spaces allow you to gain experience in realistic clinical settings, preparing you for real pharmacy practice. You’ll practise patient interactions in a safe, controlled environment, and develop key scientific skills in drug formulation, analysis and pharmaceutical research.

Accreditation

Our Pharmacy courses are accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

My time at UEA set me up for the person I am today. In addition to learning Pharmacy, through the support the lecturers provided I grew as a person. This led to a diverse career across Pharmacy, NHS England, Government and in healthcare management.
