Visual Computing and Signal Processing

We conduct research in many aspects of computer vision, computer graphics and image guided surgery.

Our group focuses on human-centric visual computing, which comprises work across computer vision and computer graphics with cross-over into artificial intelligence, machine learning, education, healthcare and human-computer interaction.

Research topics

  • 3D vision-based AI systems for image guided minimally invasive surgeries

  • 3D modelling of urban environments and historic places

  • DockIT: Interactive Flexible Molecular Docking

  • Virtual reality (VR) software for simulating childbirth

  • Enhancing Teacher Agency with Technology

These technologies share many theoretical foundations and we collaborate intensively with other laboratories namely Colour lab, Data Science and Statistics and Machine Learning. We also collaborate closely with Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital, School of History, School of Education, School of Health Sciences, UEA, various industries and internationally with EPIC games.
